going all internal

thinking of getting rid of my external bushes on my carp pole and going internal..is that the way forward ?
and my second question is...what size internal bushes will i need for black hydro to red hydro ?

I went 'internal' over the weekend. I removed the number 1's from my Match kits and put in size 3 Maver internals. I cut back my power kits too, all to the same length and all now have drennan black externals bushes fitted internally. What I wanted was a really stiff top kit. The length of the match tops and power tops are 7.5 & 7 feet respectivley which is ample for the venues I fish.

My advise would be take your top kit to your local tackle shop, get some hydro off the shelf and compare it with the internals they have in store. You are looking for a plenty of room between the elastic and the sides of the bush. Once you have found the suitable bush, just check that you powerkits have enough lenght to be able to accomodate cutting back to fit.

For super heavy grades of elastic (well all my power kits) all have the biggest externals i can find, this means that the elastic does the work and not the pole. I like the power kits to be as stiff as possible and my G10 power kit number 1s are about a foot long, which probably makes the power kits just around 6ft. I use an extendable cupping kit as my match kits with number 1 removed are a lot longer than my power kits, so they are suited for winter carping with slightly lighter grades. Then for the summer i only use power kits.
As to internals for red hydro, i would be using the preston red internals.

getting them from my local shops doesn't seem to be an option as the two i vist don't have any in stock..would you belive:mad:, hence the size question as it appears i'm going to have order these off the net...:(

prestons largest internal is red, i think its 3.5 or 4mm, alternatively maver number 6 internals.

all done and sorted top kits all looking sexy can't wait til it warms up now,i,ve put dacron connectors on all of my power kits except the ones with red hydro on which i still have conventional connectors.....:)
