First year I've been on the reserve list for a fisho qualifier

question is, do I sit by the post box or go to the venue in hope of a place?

depends how far down you are dave.
Wait till nearer the time and see if you have risen up the list.
if I was in the top 20 near the time then I would defo travel.
Just my take on it:)

Dave - What venue is it ?

You'll probably get on the match before it arrives but if not then yes it is worth turning up anyway.

If its the first one at Viaduct everyone will turn up. If its later in the year you have more chance, as you do if its a Wednesday match too, or a long haul like White Acres.
The winner CANT fish any more rounds once he has quilifed, so has to return any other tickets he may have.

*** whoops, mis-read your post Nigel - forget you have seen this ***

I was 10th reserve at barford which was an early fisho qualifier and on the day i was the first to get a none used ticket. The only problem is that you will only get aprox 20 minutes to get to your peg and set up.

Why only 20mins ??

Surely if the draw is at 9 and fish 10-3 ( for arguments sake) surely if you have tno registered by a certain time then you are taken off the list as a no show ??

i'd be interested in why only 20 mins to tack up ? i have 3 reserve spots this years, 22nd 40th and 50th!!! last year draws were at 9 am and fishing started at 11 am if i remember right ? so even if takes hour to find out you got ticket, you should have hour to spare??

Thats right, you have an hour. Draw from 9am till about 9.30, then you have to wait till 10am before they will release the tickets.
This could take another 5 minutes, then if you have got in, you have to get to your peg and set up. If your parking behind your peg fine, but if you have a long walk, you may only have 1/2 an hour to set up, which is plenty for me anyhow to be honest.

i can see how you could only have 20 mins then, maybe less if you got to walk to far side of speci lake at larford  . unless i get real close to front of reserve list, i wont bother traveling to see if i get place. i will settle for my only fisho place at larford.

If its some where like barford not all the lakes are on sight , a couple of the lakes are about 5 - 8 miles away so you have to drive there and not get lost. As it was i drew on the pleasure lake but had to get the right bait for that lake get to my peg and set up. With every one else set up and waiting to start the match its a bit of a distraction.

One thing to remember though........plenty of reserves (and even people going on spec) have gone on to win a qualifier.

Assuming that some people who have got places return their tickets, will this mean that the Angling Trust will update the lists of anglers on their website?

I'm on one of the reserve lists, so was wondering if I would go up that list over the coming months as people (hopefully) pull out?

I'm sure I've read something about this on one of the sites, but cant remember.

Last year i was 10th reserve and up to the day was still 10th reserve on the web site list, on the day it turned out of those that turned up i was first reserve. I had been in 2 minds wether to go or not but would know advise any one who is up to 15th reserve to turn up.
