Iv been fishing a Mariner and catching good size roach with the odd 4lb bream. Iv got latex in at the moment but it.s been in for years so need to change. What lacky would you recommend for roach with the odd bream.
Cheers

Blue Hydro....depends on the average stamp of the roach I suppose, but soft-set blue through a top two will do nicely, especially with those bream..

Nothing wrong with a Preston Slip 4-6 either...

Had trouble when setting Latex soft as it stuck to the pole. Would I get the same problem with solid set soft?

Ive never had a problem....dont forget to lubricate your pole ;)
Not overly soft though...just so it slides back in slowly with not alot of ping

Just found some Middy Hi-Vis 3 to 4 in the garage. Should I go the double up route or would this land the odd bream?

It'll be fine mate....set it so it creeps back nicely then jobs a good-un...

another vote for blue hydro, just make sure the tips are cut back enough for it to work smoothly.

that may be ok doubled but the purple 4-6 doubled is ,imo, stronger than blue or white hydro for skimmers, found this out the hard way on decent roach and small skimmers - bloody good if expecting the occassional small to medium carp tho'.

"doubled but the purple 4-6 doubled" what make is that WA? and will it be soft enough for the 2oz roach?

No Rob...

Stick to latex, a standard number 6-ish or Blue Hydro...all laccied in "standard" fashion.

Doubled up Preston original no.4 would be my choice. I have been using it for small skimmers lately and its spot on.

Steve when doubling do you get the length's spot on? Iv tried but kept getting one side just abit longer than the other after fitting dacron. Will it matter?

I like to used the drennan hollow green 6 - 8 set really slack and in conjunction with a pull bung.

Some may disagree but works for me :D

I have found the preston slip natural latex very good but now prefer orignal slip coloured ,now it is more readily available.
