View Full Version : How can I sell my pole?

I have listed my Elite 47 for £800 on a few forums without much interest, probably because I have said that I won't post it and therefore the buyer would have to come to Kent.

I need the cash to help with redundancy but can still use the carp pole for most of my fishing, so is there a better way to find a buyer? I don't want to use ebay as I will either have to put a high reserve on it or bidders will ignore the 'collection only' bit.

Any ideas lads?

is there a forum postal service as such ??

Posting is out of the question mate, too valuable and open to all sorts of problems with damage or dishonesty. Besides, I think a buyer would want to see the pole before paying for it.

Why not see if you can agree to meet half way?

Yep I think maybe I should have put that in the ad but next week the car will go back when we are given the axe so no transport for a while, unless my plan comes together.

I think your going to struggle to get £800 for it to be honest, all the newer models are on different mandrels and the spares for these poles are considerably cheaper than the 47 spares.
People are quoting 1K for a new 401,now superceeded by the 481.You may have to take a bit less.

mpmilo - what do you think I could get for it and how do I find a buyer then?

I normally sell my poles on to local club anglers who want a top pole, but dont mind buying used/second hand. Might be worth asking local club members, cuts out delivery.Apart from that mate i dont know.

Cheers Blaggers. I hadn't seen that TF thread but I will make a post.

Thanks mpmilo, I do need to get some cash together coz I don't know how long I will be without a salary.

Squeaks, I could sell for less and maybe keep some more of the kits for my carp pole. I don't know how low I would go until I really need the cash, maybe £500 in the bank is better than £2000 stuck in the pole holdall?

It's a good idea to get in touch with local clubs, I will send a notice to a few members and ask if they can pass it round.

Sh!t times really, 4 years ago I picked up my brand new 325, 0-60 in 7 seconds, full sports kit inside and out and next week it will be taken away (it's a company car). Funny how life changes so easily!

Had the same thing myself mate when i was a site agent, got made redundant after 2 years.First and last time ive ever been on the cards. Salary gone, car gone, perks gone takes some getting used to.All comes out all right in the end.

Who were you a site agent for mate? Are you doing the same thing now?

I am in the lighting industry and spend half my life making sure sites go to plan!

No secondhand gear seemes to be selling at the moment, The Milo Bomb Rod I have up for sale would have sold in about a hour this time last year through the forums, but only had 2 people asking about it in the last forghtnight and both declined in the end through lack of cash:eek:

Ebay is your best bet. you can get postage insurance to cover damage. I have a couple of hard cardboard tubes you can have to post it in.
