Welcome to the site Gary, if you pay 5 quid and become a full member there are matches organised all over the uk by members of this site, must be a member to enter comps.
There is also links to fisheries some of which may be near you,not sure if you can view them untill you are a member though.
Enjoy the site Gary.

I know i've read articles on the K&A for years green with envy and couldn't believe when I got here that there didnt seem to be any local clubs holding regular matches.

Cheers Mark.
If you ever fancy a beer one evening it'd be good to bend your ear about local clubs, waters, matchscene etc.

Try Avon angling based in Melksham they run a few each year. Also i'm sure that Devizes angling club will run a few on the canal. Not forgetting that you also have the Bristol Avon on your doorstep, again I was a Member of Avon Angling and Chippenham clubs and they ran a number of matches on various stretches in the area.;)

Go into Premier Angling in Chippenham and have a word with Colin. He knows all the info about matches in that area.

Hi Gary and welcome.
Get yourself along to Bernie's Bait and tackle in Snuff street there you will get information on Devizes AA club and open matches. The club has it's own lake out of town and matches are fished on it as well as on the canal ( summer evening league).
The River scene is best accessed by going to Premier Angling in Chippenham ask for Colin. Great value licence with club and open matches fished throughout the year. Also Melksham have a good few miles of River and canal with plenty of club and open matches the pick being the saturday series in the summer. check out WWW.avonac all details on the website.
There is just so much quality fishing and matches you won't know where to start. http://www.matchfishing-scene.co.uk/images/icons/icon7.gif

Skimmers, Bream & tench over pellet.
There are a few carp and unreliable to target for a match.
Also loads of roach, some good quality ones, but there are loads of blades, which are a bad in the arse, so forget taking any maggot. Having said that I caught some good fish on caster at 5m.
Mark won the match a few weeks ago with 23lb of skimmers/bream on pellet. You should have plenty of bites. The venueis only 3-4ft.

yes.
Pole & waggler with pellet should do the most damage, although the feeder from the right side of the island to the far bank can work.
