hi,anyone used these floats yet,if so how easy are they to shot onto the bristle, they have a cane tip but its a thin one.the wire stem seems short so do they tend to tangle when shipping out long distances.

Most short wired stem floats are awkward to ship smoothly thats why my F1 Pencils will have a glass stem right through them when I get chance to make some. The stem will make them stronger as they will be very slim diameter balsa..

I like a few of the Garbo floats but the bloody things only last 2 Min's:rolleyes:
If you are fishing for carp buy the pattern you like and give it to one of the lads on-line that make there own floats, IE scone, hillbilly, Acoo, malman, MW but for me it would be john Waker as the foam he is using is the D*gs Bollo*ks.
get them to do a pattern close and you will not be buying a new float every fish and thats a fact;)

thats your opinion simon, fortunatley i get to use garbo floats all the time and believe me it is by choice and not because ib sponsered by them.
i was the one who came up with the design of the dc 13 pencil and they are designed to fish for smaller carp and f1's in the winter months, which is why they r quite delicate in build.
everyone is entitled to there opinion, i'm just giving you all mine.

I now use dc13's for a lot of my fishing and have used them on a winter league at Larford, tunnel and ockeridge this year. I do have problems with them wrapping round at times but i just take my time shipping out. Never had any break or any problems with them at all really. I also use other Garbo floats and have only had 1 break all year.

just ordered some more from Harrisons,
by the way most items are now back in stock!
think this pencil shape superb as surely in fairish conditions the hydrodynamic shape must accenuate bites - if you think of the the shapes of the various species of fish and also ships and yachts then this must have a bearing- just try pushing your hand palm up through water and the effort and water resistance compared to your hand pointed and concentrated like an arrow. try it, obviously the need for stabillity is affected by tow, wind and waves but i remember coxy your article for m/fishing from 18 months or so when yo described a french angler next to you on a slow river in windy conditions using a pencil and getting bites running thru'.
As regards design Diddy 123,
what factors have s had a bearing on the design of the dc13 or would you say that the streamline shape is more useful for hitting quick bites whilst pellet fishing as you describe due to its clean exit from the water? Apart from the wire stem what are the main differences in use from the excellent DS 14 in usage and bait type?
