After initially being a skeptic about doubled up elastic I replaced my 8 latex with doubled Preston slip 5 for mixed nets and am impressed with the results.

Now I am intending to rig up a couple of kits with a 6 elastic for when the weather warms up a bit and compare it to the 10-12 latex I have been using but I remember reading somewhere that some brand stick in the pole.

I have already a lot of Vespe 6 so I was going to use this. So has anybody used this brand and had the sticking problems with it?

I seem to recall people raving about the Preston Slip stuff, Nick

Nick why did you feel it was better than the 8 latex?

Nick, it is Preston slip that seems to be best for some reason.
Rob, it's very soft on the strike so less bumped small fish but soon powers up to give better control over the bigger ones.

Peter, I know people use the Preston slip but I guess im just being tight using what I have already!

Rob, It run a lot smoother than the latex and also was soft enough to catch even the smallest roach/skimmers, but as others have said has a bit more power than a single length of 8 when it is pulled out a bit.

I first used it down my local Monks Lake for a mixed net with carp to about 3lb and bumped nothing! This was with a 0.12 trace and 18 Kamasan 611 hook.

Then I tried it again catching roach/skimmers and hybryds from about a ounce to about 1.5lb landing virtualy everything. This rig was a 0.10 trace and a 18 Drennan silverfish hook.

Boo Hiss........ still using Hydro but I have to honest I have not tried it so cannot add a proper valid comment.

From what I did read about it last year anglers stated that the original Preston slip laccy worked better than latex and other brands.

Hope it helps
