If I think they will come shallow I would feed a swim to catch some early fish at full depth while I was feeding another line with caster or pellet ready to catch shallow once the early line started to die. you will often not get signs at this time of year as they will not always come right to the top - have confidence - they usually will come shallow IF you feed correct.

As some people will know , this is my favourite way of fishing

Why wait for signs? Shallow fishing is not just for those days when the carp are cruising and topping. The feeding pattern will get them up or they might be hanging around just under the surface anyway but you just can't see them.

A shallow approach is often ignored unless the carp are visible and this is an opportunity missed.

F1s are good at feeding shallow without even showing the slightest ripple on the surface.

When your rig in the area your feeding with pellets etc your going to see movement on the float not long after you have fed telling you that the fish are higher up in the water, this is the time to switch to a shallow rig when you see these signs on the float .
