Gus.

I hope you're keeping well, I was hoping to get a session on the Wye at Xmas but it didn't happen.

As for elastics the Shakespeare/Middy purple, (I think it's rated 4-6) is a very good elastic for smaller fish from 2 oz upwards. It would be my first choice for skimmers and roach up to 1lb or so when the majority of the fish will be from 2 oz to 8oz.

The Shakespeare/Middy 6-8, (it's very soft as is the purple), may be a better choice if the fish range from 4 oz to 2lbs.

Other good elastics which I've used are the Sensas latex and Drennan

If you use the Middy lubricant sparingly it normally lasts quite well. Mind you I do change my solids every few months especially the carp grades because if you catch a lot of fish and the elastic is bottomed out frequenty it does loose its elasticity.

I've been using the Middy solids since they came out and despite many anglers switching to latex I've stayed with middy because I rate the orange 6-8 and the pink 14-16 as two of the best solids I've used. I'm also a big fan of the preston black No 8 which is another good elastic especially for goof sized skimmers and bream.

The majority of my fishing is done with those grades of elastic and to be honest I haven't found one brand that does everything I want, I've listed below the ones I use:

Kamasan No3
Middy 3-4
Preston original slip No5
Middy 6-8
