Thinking about changing my Reel Line's for this year! I've always used Maxima, i tried the Korum stuff for a time but could'nt get away with it and went straight back to maxima and have used it ever since. Got to say that its never let me down!!! Any thoughts or recomendations???

I too, have used Maxima for years, but was given some Berkeley Trilene Sensation in 4lb BS some time ago....it really is the muttz nuttz...well worth a look in my book. I believe Berkeley had to "re-label" this stuff as it's actually rated to 6lb BS...folk wouldn't buy it as they were dubious about it's strength..They shouldn't have been 'cos its very strong stuff for the diameter stated.

There are a few that come on here that swear by Ultima Power Steel and Pwer Plus, but I can't comment as I 'aint used the stuff..

Maxima will still hold a place in my heart though, as I too, have never had an issue with it although many will tell you it takes on water and goes weak after only a short time...:)

Watch out for some decent line reviews on here soon...;)

mp.milo did you know that on the continent they do shimano technium line down to 0.14 why they dont sell it over hear is anyones guess. Its tough as old boots with little stretch. i know its dear but the smaller sizes are on smaller spools. Please Shimano start selling it over here as i have to pay a fortune getting it shipped from Italy.

Sconeee; Sensation's ACCURATE breaking strain, for the 0.20mm, which stopped it selling when it was on the label, was actually 7.6lb

That's why it the bogs dollox then Keef...:)

I honestly thought it was "just another reel-line" when Roy told me to try the stuff I'd been given, but I can vouch for the strength...awesomely good stuff...

Where are the Ultima boys..?

i swapped to trilene sensation 3 seasons ago its thinner, stronger and more supple than any other reel line i've used and it knots well, you simply cant break the 4lb in your hands you'll strip them of flesh first, only a complete maniac is capable of cracking off with this stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been know to crack off using 8lb technium. A wind knot in your braid will have this effect usually taking with it the end of the quivertip. Thats why i like having big rings on my quivers. When you power up the rod to go a big throw it only takes a minor mishap to leave you in all sorts of trouble. I find that spraying your spool with washing up liquid before your first cast helps to stop the braid overtaking itself and causing a birdsnest. I read this in one of the carp magazines and touch wood has worked for me. We have a lot to learn from the specimen anglers and Mick who works in Wickersley Angling Centre a well respected and has had some amazing catches has opened my eyes. As the fish get bigger how long will it be before we are looking to these people to advance our knowledge?

I have gone back to Maxima after years of trying other stuff, best thing i ever did.
Out of all the other lines I used over the years the only one which gave the same durability of Maxima was Berkley.
I have Just switched pole rig lines from Preston power line to Ultima power match and so far very impressed with the power match.
Allso tying hook links for Bream/Carp with the Ultima power match and it seems to knot a lot better than the power line which had a tendency to slip at the hook.
